1) Q: What is the Community Policing Centre`s relationship with the Vancouver Police Department?
A: The Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Centre works in a partnership with the Vancouver Police Department and support from the City of Vancouver to promote crime prevention and safety through a range of programs, activities and services for residents, businesses, and agencies in the Grandview-Woodland neighbourhood.
The GWCPC helps make police services accessible to the public when appropriate or refer community members in need of assistance to additional agencies in the neighbourhood, departments within the City of Vancouver or to other levels of government.
The GWCPC’s operating agreement with Vancouver Police Services incorporates the touchstones of community policing to provide Patrol Support by promoting proactive and visible policing, education in crime prevention and by responding to residents’ concerns to help decrease reliance on emergency services. The Community Policing Centre assists in Advocacy through actively working to support the community’s most vulnerable and by presenting police services in an accessible manner. The GWCPC encourages Communication & Collaboration with the VPD and other CPC’s in working together on VPD and City-wide events and through partnering to help other community services in the neighbourhood.
2) Q: When should I call 911?
A: 911 should be called in an event that involves an immediate threat to person or property (e.g. screams, shots fired), a substantive crime in progress (e.g. fight, burglary, drug dealing, impaired driver,) when a serious crime has just occurred (e.g. sexual assault, robbery), or when suspicious circumstances may indicate an immediate criminal act (e.g. prowler). All other calls should be placed to the non-emergency line: 604-717-3321.
3) Q: Can I get a police record check at the GWCPC?
A: Requests for a Police Records Check must be made in person at the VPD's 312 Main St. location. Hours of service are from 8:00 a.m to 5:30 p.m. Monday to Friday (closed Statutory Holidays.)

7) Q: What do I do about an abandoned car in the alley behind my house?
A: Call the City of Vancouver Abandoned Auto by dialing 311, and report the exact location of the vehicle and the license plate number.
8) Q: What can I do about my landlord/tenant problem?

9) Q: What time can construction work begin?
A: The Noise Bylaw varies according to the zones and areas of the City. To find specifics guidelines, call City of Vancouver Environmental Health by dialing 311, or consult http://vancouver.ca/bylaws/6555c.PDF. Generally construction hours run from 7am to 10pm Monday to Saturday, and from 10am to 10pm on Sunday and holidays.
10) Q: Who can I call if I’m concerned about illegal drug related activities in the neighbourhood?
The VPD Drug Section has a 24hr voicemail tip line at 604 717 3348 ext.5050 that you can even call anonymously. Calls may only be returned if additional information is requested.
