Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Centre
URGENTLY NEEDED: 2,740 Discarded Cell Phones
January 13, 2008
Vandals have struck the Grandview-Woodland Community Policing Centre on Commercial Drive again and the bill this time is $2,740.
Our non-profit volunteer organization has endured 3 previous arson attempts and 4 smashed windows over the past decade. After the second glass replacement our insurance policy was cancelled and neither the City of Vancouver nor the VPD can offer any financial assistance.
Faced with an outstanding bill that is beyond our budget, we are turning to Pitch In Canada, a cell phone recycler that offers non-profits $1 for every discarded cell phone we collect.
We are asking for help from businesses and individuals: Please donate any cell phones turned in to retailers, outdated cell phones from your closets or from institutional or corporate lost & founds. Phones can be dropped off at 1977 Commercial Drive. Call 604-717-2932 for pick up of multiple phones.
Our goal is to collect 2,740 old cell phones to pay for our new front window. It’s good for the environment, good for clearing out clutter and especially good for our hard-working, non-profit community organization.
