Volunteers are a diverse group of individuals from many different backgrounds; they are often people who are interested in making a difference in their community.
You may want to be more competitive as a qualified candidate for one of the local police departments, a retiree interested in Speed Watch, a stay at home parent wanting office experience, or a student looking to expand your resume – we have a program that will suit you interests.
If you have 4 hours a month to share, and are interested in getting involved to make a difference, then we want to hear from you! What better way to increase your experience than working with the police and the community to build partnerships and make it a safer place to live!

To volunteer at the Grandview Woodland CPC, the following criteria must be met:
Community Policing Centres do not process Criminal Record checks. These are applied for at the Vancouver Police office at 312 Main Street.
Once you have completed your initial CPC interview, and it has been deemed you qualify to volunteer at the GWCPC, you will be given a Criminal Records Check form along with a letter to take with you to 312 Main. This form should be filled out at the police station and you will need to produce two pieces of government-issue ID at that time. Examples of Government Issue ID are: drivers license, birth certificate, passport, BC ID, Care Card, etc.
There is no charge for the Criminal Records Check for potential CPC volunteers.

- complete a police security clearance check
- 18 years of age or older
- commit to volunteering 4 hours per month
- possess excellent interpersonal skills
- enjoy working with the public
- speak fluent English (other languages are an asset!)
- be a team player
- be a self-starter
- be able to keep information confidential
